Emma - service an account
Moving an existing account to Symplany℠ Pro requires three tasks:
- Create a new account in Symplany Pro
- Modify the goal in Envestnet®, and
- Service the account in Emma
This article walks through how to service an account in Emma by filling out the appropriate forms. The forms you need to fill out depend on which actions you are taking:
- Is the client investment objective changing two degrees or more (e.g. Income and Growth to Growth)? If so, fill out a CAI
- Is the client fee schedule changing? If so, fill out an IMA
- Are you adding Advisor Limited Discretion to the account? Fill out an FLD / ALD (IDA)
- You also need to attach three (3) Symplany Pro documents at the end of your application.
- If you do not plan to update the client's investment objective (CAI), fee schedule (IMA), or add advisor discretion (ALD), you then need to fill out a CAI so you can attach the three Symplany Pro documents to that form.
The details are very important. Any missed steps can result in a delay to your account opening properly. If you have two monitors, we recommend putting these instructions on one screen while navigating through Emma on the other.
Step 1 - Start a Service Request
- Pull up the client’s account (can be done directly in Emma or through SmartOffice)
Click Service an existing account
Step 2 - Select the forms you need to fill out
Symplany Pro can only be used with IA accounts
- As noted above, choose the applicable forms:
- Investment objective changing two degrees or more = CAI
- Fee schedule changing = IMA
- Adding advisor discretion = ALD/FLD
If none of the above apply, you still need to fill out a CAI so you can attach the disclosure documents.
Step 3 - Fill out the appropriate fields for each form
- *Note: Emma will guide you through the required fields. This article does not cover every field in your Emma service request, it only covers the fields unique to opening a Symplany Pro account.
- **If you are not filling out all three forms (CAI, IMA, ALD/FLD), you may only see some of these fields.
